Frequently Asked Questions about visiting Calvin:

1- What is worship like at Calvin?

Worship at Calvin is a relatively informal experience. Each week we offer a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music, as well as prayers and scripture readings, in which anyone in the congregation is invited and welcome to take part. Wear whatever clothes you are comfortable with – we are excited that you have come to worship with us!

2- How do we get to meet people?

Yes! We host Fellowship Time after each service, where there is tea and coffee, and often there are even snacks! Don’t be shy to introduce yourself! If you would like to pair up with someone to help you settle in, let us know, and we can find someone to show you around!

3- Do I need to know a lot about the Bible before starting to attend?

Absolutely not! We are not born with knowledge of scripture, and today many newcomers do not have any church background. We are happy to help you learn from the very beginning, and there are plenty of Bibles available to browse for your own reference. We love talking about God and teaching others about Him, and no question is too big or small. It is always an honour to be part of someone’s journey, regardless of where they are on the path!

4- Do I have to be baptized to attend or participate?

No, you do not have to be baptized or have any prior experience with Christianity at all.

5- Do I have to join the choir?

No, but it is a great way to get to know people and become familiar with common hymns! No experience is required, just enthusiasm!

6- How do I get to Calvin?

We often get questions about getting to our church, and we understand that it’s a bit tucked away! As seen in the map below, the closest major intersection is Joseph Howe Drive at Bayers Road. We are just behind the fire station, with free parking! It is also possible to get to us from Mumford Rd, by coming up Ashburn Ave, and turning right just after passing under the Bi-Hi overpass.
