Calvin Congregational Announcements for the week of Apr. 30 – May 7

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Below are our congregational announcements for the week of Apr. 30th – May 7th.

Special Congregational Meeting THIS SUNDAY!:

As per the recommendations coming out of this year’s Annual General Meeting (held Mar. 5, 2022) the Session is planning to hold a congregational meeting on Sun. May 1 during the fellowship time following the morning’s worship service.

Having met on Wed. Apr. 20, the Session will be bringing both UPDATES and RECOMMENDATIONS regarding

      1. improvements to the church parking lot
      2. the possibility of replacing the church steeple, and
      3. details of the proposed building renovations. We would ask that you please save that date, and make plans to attend. Please watch for an additional email containing further information for your consideration!

Minister’s Study Leave:

Please be aware that Rev. Koslowski will be on Study Leave from May 2-15. While he is away, the Rev. Sukho Lee will be providing pulpit supply each Sunday. In the event of a pastoral emergency, please contact the Rev. Dr. P.A. ’Sandy’ McDonald at 902-497-8112. If you have announcements in need of circulation, please contact the clerk of Session, Stephanie Bilodeau. Please note, that during Rev. Koslowski’s absence we will NOT be posting recordings of our worship services to our website. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, at present we do not have anyone in place to do the editing and posting work required.

Fellowship Time Returns!:

Just a reminder that a time of fellowship in the Church Hall following Sunday morning worship services has now resumed. Coffee, tea, and juice are available, and we would like to invite you stay and to take part as you are comfortable.

Sunday School Update:

Just a reminder that children and youth are currently beginning worship in the sanctuary with the rest of the congregation before going down to Sunday School after a children’s time (or a ‘Congregational Conversation time’ as we’ll be calling it for the next few weeks), as we had done pre-covid. This is because we are hoping to begin a more interactive series of worship services based on looking at where, and to whom, Jesus shows up after his resurrection as well as where, and how, he continues to meet us today.

Bible Study gets set to return!:

Our next 6-part Bible Study, “Unlocking Revelation” will begin on Thurs. May. 19 with in-person afternoon sessions at 1:00 p.m. and online evening session via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. We will explore the book of Revelation with a real focus on understanding how the book both spoke into the life and times of the churches it was first written to, as well as how it continues to speak into the life of the church today. Please see the attached flyer for more information!

Spring Yard Sale:

The Ladies’ Fellowship Group is planning to host a Spring Yard Sale, on Sat. May 28. Please watch for more details in future announcements!

Sunday Bulletins:

While we have not, as of yet, returned to producing regular Sunday morning bulletins limited print copies of both the ORDER OF SERVICE and WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS are available each Sunday morning for those wishing one on the table outside the Sanctuary.

Food Cupboard & Food Bank Requests:

Food Cupboard donations: If you would like to donate food – please consider cereal, spaghetti, kraft dinner, mr.noodles, granola bars, and other individually wrapped snacks, instant coffee, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene products. Monetary donations can be made with “Mission and Outreach Food Cupboard”.  We also ask that when donating, food be in original packaging and unopened. Thank you for your continued support as we, the Calvin congregation, continue to support the community around us.
